Frequently asked questions
How does the free library work?
ReperDo is free to download. You can keep 12 of your own songs. Bundled sample songs do not count. Playlists, scores, and practice tools stay unlimited. Unlock ReperDo Full once on the App Store or Google Play for unlimited user songs. Use Restore purchases on another device signed into the same store account. A library backup does not carry the license. There is no ReperDo account. See the full guide.
Do I need an account or internet to use ReperDo?
No ReperDo account is required. Your library is stored on your device and works offline for reading, practicing, and performing. Internet is only needed for optional features you choose — such as cloud backup uploads or opening YouTube links from a song.
Who is ReperDo for?
Anyone who keeps a personal repertoire: teachers, students, soloists, street musicians, band members, choir, and daily practitioners. One app for setlists, lyrics, scores, metronome, tuner, and reference audio — tuned for real lessons and gigs, not generic streaming.
How do I back up my library?
Use Settings to export a full backup ZIP or turn on scheduled local auto-backup. Optional cloud snapshot backup can send a file you control to Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud (where supported). ReperDo does not host your data on its own servers. See the backup guide.
Can I import many songs at once?
Yes. Settings includes CSV import for bulk song creation. Download the template from the app, fill it in a spreadsheet (UTF‑8 recommended for Greek and other scripts), and import. You can also import ZIP bundles from exports or other ReperDo users.
Can I import any PDF or audio I find online?
Only if you own it or have the right to use it. ReperDo stores files on your device and does not grant you a license to third-party scores, recordings, or lyrics. See the terms of use.
Can I transpose chords?
Yes. On a song page you can transpose chord sections and starred chord rows in lyrics by semitone. Reset returns to the original key (tonalità). Score playback has its own transpose: the written notes stay put and only the sound moves. See the MusicXML guide.
What about performing on stage?
Open your playlist, tap through songs with prev/next, use fullscreen for PDFs and images, and enable live read‑only mode in Settings to avoid accidental edits during a show or lesson. For hands-free page turns, use a Bluetooth or USB page-turn pedal.
Does ReperDo work with a Bluetooth or USB page-turn pedal?
Yes. ReperDo supports standard Bluetooth or USB page-turn pedals that pair as a keyboard and send Page Up/Down, arrow keys, or Space/Enter. Enable the pedal in Settings → Reading → Page-turn pedal, choose a key profile that matches your pedal, and turn pages while a PDF or image score is fullscreen — or step through your setlist. No ReperDo driver is required. Test before the gig on iOS or Android. See the page-turn pedal guide.
Is my data private?
See our privacy policy. In short: local-first storage; optional cloud backup only when you connect a provider and run a backup.
Does ReperDo work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. ReperDo is built for iOS and Android, including phones and tablets. Your library stays on the device, so the same repertoire workflow works without switching ecosystems.
Can I use ReperDo as a sheet music reader?
Yes. PDF and images go fullscreen on stage, including ink and music symbols you can flatten and share. Use a Bluetooth or USB page-turn pedal for hands-free turns when enabled in Settings. MusicXML and MuseScore are for hearing and practicing the part — see below.
Does ReperDo open MusicXML?
Yes. Attach .musicxml, .xml, compressed .mxl, or MuseScore .mscz / .mscx (MuseScore 3.6 or 4.x). ReperDo shows the score on screen and plays it with a cursor that follows the music. Change the pitch by up to 12 semitones without changing the written notes, share the file, or save what you hear as audio. It is not a notation editor. MuseScore page layout is not kept. A dense score may still differ from MuseScore on a desktop. For the stand, PDF and images are the reliable path. See the MusicXML guide.
Can I attach MuseScore (.mscz) files?
Yes on iOS and Android. Share or open a .mscz or .mscx into ReperDo — the app converts it on your device and uses the same reader as MusicXML, including playback transpose and audio export. You do not need a desktop MusicXML export first. If a score looks wrong after an app update, remove and re-import the attachment. For a fixed layout on the stand, export PDF from MuseScore.
Is MusicXML playback an authentic makam?
No. ReperDo modal playback is pedagogical: it helps you hear a first approximation of a chosen makam preset while you read the score. A makam in performance is a living modal tradition — shaped by seyir (melodic path), ornamentation, repertoire context, and intonation that skilled musicians adjust in real time. Playback uses a defined pitch model for study; it does not reproduce the full complexity of real makam performance and is not an authoritative reference for professional intonation. See the modal score playback guide.
Can I choose oud or piano for score playback?
Yes. In Settings → Playback → Modal score (MusicXML), choose MusicXML instrument — oud or piano. That affects timbre only. Pitch still follows each score’s modal interpretation (tradition, makam preset, and karar) and your conflict policy. Per-score settings are under Playback tuning & tradition… on the attachment card. See the modal score playback guide.
Can I change the metronome click sound?
Yes. In Settings → Playback → Metronome sounds, pick Synthetic (default) or a recorded kit: Woodblock, Djembe, Darabuka, Dumbek, or Bodhran. Accented beats use Dum; weak beats use Tek. The same kit applies to the song-page metronome and Structured metronome. This is not the same as MusicXML oud/piano playback. See Practice tools.
Can I record in ReperDo?
Yes. Record a practice clip on the song — the everyday path, next to the metronome and reference audio. A 4-track sketch is also there if you want to layer parts. It is an early idea pad, not a DAW: overdub works best on wired headphones, and we are still polishing it.
What is Structured metronome?
It is a per-song click map. You name sections (Intro, Verse, Chorus), set measure ranges, and give each part its own tempo, time signature, and optional grouped accents such as 3+2+2 in 7/8. Press Start: optional count-in, then the form, then stop. You author the map in Song metadata — ReperDo does not detect the form from a score. See the Structured metronome guide.
Can the metronome change tempo or meter during a song?
Yes, when Structured metronome is on. Each segment can have its own BPM and time signature, including odd meters. A simple loop (one BPM until Stop) is still available when structure is off.
Does the metronome follow the MusicXML score?
No. Structured metronome follows the map you save on the song. Score-locked clicks during MusicXML playback are a separate option on the overlay.
